Vuelta

Photobook that invites you to ponder and value the cultural richness of Mexico City’s Downtown, through a photo journey from 1900 to 2018, along Juarez Avenue, Madero Street and the main plaza Zócalo, historical spaces that have been the testimony of the development of Mexico City.

Vuelta takes its title after a poem written by Octavio Paz when he came back to Mexico in 1968 after living in India for several years; it also makes reference to its connotative meanings, to turn/return, come back or go for a short walk.

The photos are part of the Villasana Archive, a collection of more than 10,000 postcards and photographs of Mexico collected since 1970 by Carlos Villasana from different flea markets, but mainly from La Lagunilla, one of the biggest and oldest in Mexico.
